Story Cloak | Ted

"As a psychotherapist, I know the potential of a conversation to affect a shift in someone's reality, but I also know that the shift is so much deeper when it is anchored in the body. Why do humans universally engage in rituals such as collecting souvenirs, awarding trophies, receiving communion, lighting the menorah, and exchanging rings? It's because the ability to touch and hold an object brings the experience down to the body.

"After practicing meditation for over 40 years, it can have a tendency to become just part of my routine. Honoring my practice with this beautiful and special blanket helps me remember how precious the opportunity is to sit and feel the peace within. Emily has brilliantly devised this opportunity to distill the shift you want to its essence and to incorporate that in an object that will anchor you to your heart's longing every day. Her sense of design is attested to by the photos on this site."

— Ted

Ted and I met through a series of Holotropic breathwork I did, that he facilitated. It was through that work that my Story Cloaks were born. I later did a training in Internal Family Systems with him to further inform my work with clients. It brought me a lot of Joy to create this meditation blanket for him that represents his past life and his current life. Ted has been a great teacher to me and became a friend in the process.

Cloak Contents

This blanket is made from Organic cotton fleece and various pieces from Ted's collection of ties and T-shirts. He is a psychotherapist, dance facilitator and Breathwork facilitator - all of these elements are part of the cloak and what informed me in making this piece. All of the imagery is symbolic to his healing path and the space he holds for others.
