AFFIRMATION
I Stand in My Strength and Wisdom
I am a pillar for my Family
"I feel like a true elder in this cloak - I feel deeply honored."
— Marvin
"Working with Emily to craft a sacred garment for my father’s 88th birthday was a beautiful process and remains a tangible expression of the honor I have for him and his essence. Emily seemed to be feeling to my dad’s spirit and character and life experience with each question about his color and style favorites. There seemed to be an enchantment around our project as each piece for it came together. From my dad’s artwork on canvas bags to loom woven Guatemalan fabric. The main material of butter soft tencel, which took a long time to arrive but when it finally did - we realized to was from Poland where Dad’s family came from. Every aspect of Life coalesced into the piece - leaving an imprint on the senses with the movement - all invoke meaning. It is poetry in fabric. I love that my Dad practices Qi Gong in the robe and the beautiful, peaceful energy he feels and creates is also part of the robe. What a blessing. Thank you Emily for creating this ceremony for us!"
— Sara
I was commissioned to make this cloak for Marvin by his daughter, Sara, for his 88th birthday. He is a practitioner of Chi Gong so his cloak was created with that in mind. Marvin is an artist and has created many paintings over the years that had been printed onto T-shirts and bags that got incorporated into the piece. This cloak was a token of honor for his service to his family. I felt honored to be part of this celebration of his life and artistry.
Cloak Contents
The materials used in this piece came from Sara - Marvin’s daughter, as well as his own art that Sara has a connection to.
