Emily Raymond
Founder, Threads of Infinity

For as long as I can remember, one question has held me: What is true in a human life?

The question arrived long before Threads of Infinity. As a girl, I would spin in long skirts until the fabric became a partner in the dance. The garment changed how I moved, how I felt, how I knew myself. Something in me understood, even then, that cloth is alive to the body it surrounds.

That knowing carried me through many rooms. I studied nursing and midwifery. I practiced massage therapy and immersed myself in embodiment and healing work. I followed threads through mythology, ritual, anthropology, and the history of adornment across cultures. Everywhere I looked, I found the same truth: clothing has always been one of the ways human beings mark what matters. It accompanied births and deaths, initiations and marriages, grief and celebration. Garments carried memory. They witnessed transformation. They helped people cross the great thresholds of a life.

My own life has been shaped by thresholds. The deaths of my brother and my mother. Years spent accompanying others through birth and healing. My own descent through grief, and the slow awakening that followed. These became my deepest teachers. They taught me that healing is a restoration of relationship — with the body, with our stories, with one another, with the living world.

That understanding is the ground Threads of Infinity stands on.

I understand clothing as an ancient language of the body. A meeting place where beauty, movement, memory, identity, and story converge. A garment made with intention becomes a witness. A companion. A tangible reminder of who we are becoming.

Through Threads of Infinity, I create Story Cloaks, Talisman Garments®, writings, workshops, and educational experiences. Expressions of Adornment as Ritual® and Myth into Matter™. Each carries the same lifelong inquiry, given form: beauty, making, movement, and story as ways of touching what is true.

From my studio in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, I research, write, teach, and make garments that honor the thresholds we all cross.  Birth and loss, love and grief, becoming and belonging.

What we wrap around our bodies can express who we are.
Sometimes, it can help us remember.

And remembering is where transformation begins.

What I hold.

A Story Cloak is the most intimate garment you will ever wear, because it is made entirely from you.

This is the moment the process begins, not when fabric is chosen or needles are threaded, but when you say: I am ready. We will confirm your commission and prepare the space for what comes next.
